There are several ways that lead to Rome. I understand what she means, I
have had the experience of being carried and driven along by a close embrace
dacner which can add considerable dynamic to your own backstaps. On the
other hand, I believe, being able to take long steps has to do with the
right weight distribution, balanc and an elegant style. I have seen plenty
of dancers, tall and short who don't dare take anything longer than a half
length step at a time. For fear of falling over, losing the connection,
general stiffness or whatever. Maybe it is a personality problem, to do with
bashfulness? Who knows? I, for one, would have much more difficulty
pattering along daintily in a kimono than taking loong tango steps...
