Dear Igo,

I am sorry to disappoint you. My knowledge of Tango
musical history is not
as sharp as yours.

For that very reason I have listen and learned much
from the 'experts' and
'scholars'. I have however spoken of cultural
positioning, global
contribution to the development of art, national
identity and artistic
performance. I will gladly engage and educate you off
the list ;)

As for my claim that Argentine disowned Tango just to
later reclaim it...
this remains unchanged. Just look at how anxious
Argentines were to mimic
Paris architecture and urban design. Parts of South
America have always
longed to resemble the old country..... I am sure you
can understand with a
minimal intellectual effort.

If not, a brief reading on the history of colonialism
in South America
should enlighten you.

Now... our friend Konstantin seems to be a good
source. Any comments on Igor
questions anyone???

Amaury

Subject: [Tango-L] European Tango. What it is?

Instead of jumping into a pointless discussion about
European influence on
Argentine Tango,
can anyone point to the good video records of Tango
made in Europe before
1950? ( preferably 1910-1930 ). It was not what is now
Ballroom tango - that
is for sure.

Amaury, you should know some..

Please, let us see what it is, what music they played,
before making any
far-reached conclusions.

Igor Polk
