Dancing for an audience... everybody is watching..=Tango-L, everybody is
reading...

Very likely; also here, in this Tango-L list everybody is reading !
.. many people are reading; even though most may seldom post anything !

I am making these comments after reading Deby's postings through
several years now.

I would like to take this opportunity to profusely congratulate Deby Novitz,
for her well tempered/useful, intelligent observations that she has posted
many times. She has become almost an American ambassador in the tango
scene in Buenos Aires (without really trying)

We knew Deby Novitz in San Francisco several years ago, since she first
entered into the Tango environment. Most likely she does not remember me at
all; we
were never close friends; we danced a few times only at "La Mariposa Milonga
in SF. I am from Argentina, so is my wife. Back around the mid 90's.
My wife and I were always present at most of the milongas in SF Bay area
and we saw Deby's early evolution in Tango in the SF Bay Area.

We silently suffered many times, listening to comments from people who
did not understand very much about Argentine tango, its culture and
its peculiarities and sometimes it seemed almost an impossible quest that
non Argentineans would ever want or be able to understand more about
Tango and sometimes were very far off from the reality of it.
We hosted our own milonga in the South Bay area; Campbell, California,
later we went back to Argentina for some years.

Deby, whether she wanted or not, has contributed enormously through
this forum to make it possible for many people worldwide, visitors (or
non-visitors)
to get a much broader and better understanding of the Tango environment
and that translates into a benefit for all. Being able to enjoy better
a stay in
Buenos Aires and/or being able to understand about a more fulfilling
behavior
in the milonga setting, regardless whether a milonga is in Buenos Aires
or anywhere else.

Her observations and comments are valuable and carry a much greater
credibility than if they were said by anyone from Argentina.

Thanks Debbie, keep up the good work. We wish you the best- Congratulations
!

Spencer and Vanessa.
