Nina Pesochinsky says that in Buenos Aires milongas cater for singletons or
couples, but never both. I have never been to South America, and I do not
for a moment dispute this, but I don't see how it works. In my 45 years of
dancing in Europe I have never seen specialisation of this kind. Suppose I
went to a singles venue, met a lady I liked, and we decided to go dancing
together the following night. Would we be barred from that particular venue
and have to seek a couples-only establishment? If so, how would it be done?
Would the doorman refuse to let us in, or would we be frozen out by social
pressures?
