Subject: ADMIN: Update on Tango-L and Tango-A move (will happen in the next
24 hours or so!)

The previously announced move of Tango-L and Tango-A to a new server
will probably happen in the next 24 hours. Here is a summary of what you
should expect:

1. You may keep sending e-mail to Tango-L at mitvma.mit.edu and
Tango-A at mitvma.mit.edu until the transition actually happens. The lists
will continue to function until the time of the transition and then
automatically be forwarded to the new lists when the transition happens.
Downtime should be a few hours at most (although subscription changes
may be restricted for a little longer).

2. All subscriptions and options (including digest or no-digest options,
Topics options for Tango-A, etc.) will be transferred over. So for most
users, the move will be largely transparent although the appearance of
messages from the list will be a little different.

3. I've created a website http://www.tango-L.com/ which, going forward,
will be the official site for instructions on subscribing, usage rules,
etc. All those who have information about Tango-L subscriptions on their
own websites are advised to point to this page. This way, any future
changes will not require updates all over the Internet but only on this
page.

4. There is an area where I could use some help: There are about 70
sites (based on a Google search) that have instructions on subscribing
to Tango-L and Tango-A, which will need to be modified. It is likely
that many of the owners of these web sites will not realize or get
around to modifying these pages, and as a result future subscribers may
be lost since they won't know that the instructions have changed. If you
are willing to help contact these webmasters to change their pages (I
will provide recommended text) and follow up to check if it was done
(and send a reminder if necessary), please contact me.

When the transition is complete, I will send another e-mail to the new
list address informing you of this. In the meantime, check
http://www.tango-L.com/ to get a preview of the additional features and
options you will have access to under Mailman.

http://www.tango-L.com/ Information about tango-L and tango-A under
Mailman (subscription and unsubscription, list rules, etc.). If you are
already on Tango-L or Tango-A, you DO NOT have to do anything--the move
will be automatic. These instructions applies for new subscribers under
Mailman.

from listserv to mailman.

"Where can I Tango in <city>?" requests should now be directed to
Tango-A rather than to Tango-L. Use a "?" at the end, and specify the
regional keyword from this list: SA NA-E NA-C NA-E EU-W EU-E AASP MISC
E.g., Subject: NA-W: Tango in Sacremento CA between 20-28 November?
