Dear Tango Friends,
The 7th Denver Memorial Day Tango Fesitval is less than a month away.
This promises to be another fun filled weekend of tango dancing. We
have hired some of the best DJs in the country. The outdoor milonga &
BBQ on Sunday is always a magical experience.
The skill level at this festival is fairly high. Expect good
floorcraft. We are not offering beginner classes, and we offer only
one Intermediate track. 55% of attendees have more than three years
of tango. 50% have danced in Buenso Aires, and 70% rate themselves
Adv-Intermediate or better.
Please register EVEN IF YOU ARE ATTENDING A-LA-CARTE, because I need
to keep track of gender balance and I need to rent sufficient floor
space. Please see the festival website for more information, workshop
schedules, and on-line registration & payment:

Teachers include,
- Eric Jorissen of Holland,
- Rebecca Shulman of NY,
- Hsueh-tze Lee of Boston,
- Christopher Nassoupoulos & Caroline Peattie of San Francisco.
DJs include
- Robin Thomas of New York,
- Ramu Pyreddy of Ann Arbor,
- Robert Hauk of Portland,
- Vijay Namasivayan of Ann Arbor.
Friday features the live music of Extasis, our local tango quartet.
Extasis has a late-Pugliese sound, and they will probably add three
or four instruments to fill out the sound. Sunday evening is Tango
Colorado's famous outdoor milonga and BBQ.
HOTEL ALMOST SOLD OUT
The Red Lion Hotel is almost sold out, and the block closes at the
end of this week: May 5th. The will open up additional rooms at the
Denver Doubletree, about 10 blocks away to cover the overflow. There
is a shuttle between the hotels.
SOME WORKSHOPS SOLD OUT
Workshop schedules are now posted. A few of the classes may have to
shift around, so don't print the schedule until the last minute.
Registrations have been very strong, and I've had to add some
classes. SOME OF ERIC"S CLASSES ARE ALREADY CLOSED due to size
limitations and high demand. There is still room in most of the
classes, and you will be free to choose from them upon arrival. Early
arrival classes on Wed & Thur, or post-festival classes on Wed, May
30, have the most space.
MILONGAS STILL OPEN
The Milonga pass costs $65 which gets you into the six milongas from
Friday afternoon to Sunday, including food at the outdoor BBQ. That
price is a big discount on individual entry.
OTHER ACTIVITIES, EARLY ARRIVALS & LATE STAYERS
There are early arrival milongas starting with the Tuesday Tango
Colorado practice. Early workshops on Wed & Thursday. Late Workshops
on Wed, May 30.
Also, Nina Pesochinsky is bringing in Juliio & Corina for workshops
the same week as the festival. Please see her for information on
availability and times for classes with Julio & Corina:
