Greetings Tang Hall Residents:
I hope that your January break was restful and that all who travelled have returned to campus and Tang safely.
I want to take this opportunity to point out a few things happening in Tang Hall this term: the Wishing Wall, lounge usage, and upcoming renovations.
1. The Wishing Wall
Housing is using the bulletin board in Tang's lobby to put up a Wishing Wall. This large white sheet of paper is to capture your hopes and dreams. For a couple of years, I've been sharing some of your comments to my questions on the 24th floor whiteboard with them and this seems to be an expansion of that. So, if you have time, please share your wishes and perhaps read the wishes of others. That said, the sheet isn't a place for maintenance issues or pest control. Please visit this link for that: https://adminappsts.mit.edu/facilities/CreateRequest.action?sapSystemId=PS1
1. Lounge Usage
It is always a good idea to remind the community of hall policies, especially since new residents move in throughout the year. Please visit this link to make sure the lounge is being used in a manner that is respectful to other residents. For example: a) There is no smoking anywhere in Tang, b) You can only reserve the 24th floor lounge for parties on certain days and at certain times and if you gather in the lounge as a group on days that it cannot be reserved, please be considerate of other residents who use that space regularly. https://tang.mit.edu/resources/reservations/

2. Upcoming Renovations
I am excited to share that thanks to hall leadership and the persistent efforts of the THRA, the first-floor lounge will be getting a kitchenette in the spring. When the ground warms, there are plans to also install an outdoor patio outside of that lounge as another common area for Tang residents. So, we are working to increase common spaces for residents to gather but during construction time, available common space will be limited which makes knowing and following hall policies is crucial.
Thanks in advance for respecting hall policies. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Warmest Regards,
Dawn
