With the chilly temperatures, we would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of the following before leaving for Thanksgiving Holiday weekend:
All air conditionings should be removed by now. To avoid frozen pipes and floods, have you're a/c removed now by opening a work order through atlas.
Lock Windows and Doors

  *   Before you leave each day, or for Thanksgiving Holiday weekend and Winter Break, please make sure that all windows and doors are shut securely and locked. This will help promote safety and avoid problems such as freezing, broken pipes and unauthorized entry.

Report Broken Windows or Doors

  *   Prior to your departure, please check to ensure your doors and windows close and lock properly.  Please report any issues through the Atlas website<https://atlas.mit.edu/atlas/Main.action?tab=home&sub=group_servreq> as soon as possible by submitting a Service Request.  Submitting a Service Request ticket is important for resolution tracking and proper follow-up.

Leave Your Heat on Low


  *   We understand that some rooms can get warmer than others but if you plan to be away from your room for an extended period of time, leaving the heat on low is another important step in preventing frozen or broken pipes.

Remove Perishable Items & Unplug Electronics


  *   Please remove and dispose of any perishable items from your living space (including personal and communal fridges).  Also, don't forget to unplug electronic devices that won't be used while you're away (i.e. your alarm clock).  Refrigerators may remain running during the break.
