Laundry Service Improvements Announcement

Important Information, Time Sensitive

TL;DR:

  * New laundry equipment installation is beginning in your building soon!
  * Please remove all clothes from laundry machines by 7 am on the day of installation (timeline below).
  * Download the new CSC Go app (link below)
  * Return to pay-per-load for laundry

Dear Residents,

We are writing to follow up on our email sent to residents on May 11 announcing that in-house laundry services will undergo an equipment and technology upgrade throughout the month of July in coordination with laundry vendor, CSC ServiceWorks<https://www.cscswacademic.com/csc-go/>. The deployment of completely new laundry machines and payment technology will begin next week and seeks to address many of the laundry-related issues residents have experienced over the past academic year.

The following information includes the laundry project timeline for your building, what to expect once work begins, and how this new technology will enhance your on-campus laundry experience.

Timeline:

Laundry service upgrades will begin the week of July 17th at 7 am, and the laundry room(s) in your building will be temporarily offline as new machines are installed. We anticipate the installation process to take 2 days to complete, and the new machines will come online immediately after installation. It is important that you remove all of your items from the machines by 7 am on the scheduled installation/removal date.

Once installation is complete, in-house laundry services will return to $1.25 per load, per machine. We expect the TechCash payment option will be available by the end of August. All payments prior to the end of August will need to be made via credit card. If you have payment related questions, or if you are not able to use a credit card, please email techcash at mit.edu<mailto:techcash at mit.edu>.

What will the equipment replacement plan schedule be?

<image001.png>

The following houses will be the first to be updated. The next phases of the project will include the remaining houses and residents will be provided with schedule information accordingly.

What are the technology upgrades?

Once you install the CSC Go app<https://www.cscswacademic.com/csc-go/>, you will be able to use the CSC Go mobile application<https://mycscgo.com/> where you can pay for laundry services, track the availability of machines, and the status of your laundry cycle. The first load of laundry will be free for all new users who download the CSC Go mobile application and create an account on their smartphone or mobile device(s).

How will these upgrades enhance my laundry experience?

In addition to incorporating new user-friendly technology, these upgrades will enhance residents’ laundry experience in a number of ways. By removing the Washlava technology and associated LG machines, CSC ServiceWorks’ integrated technology, and new equipment is expected to improve functionality, service, and responsiveness. These new devices will also provide energy-efficient laundry services, which align with the Institute’s commitment to sustainability.

When will I receive further updates?

We will provide an update when the transition has been completed in your building. As noted above, cost-free laundry services have been a temporary measure, and pay-per-load will resume once the integration of this new laundry equipment and technology has been completed.

Once the new equipment has been installed, who do I contact for laundry machine maintenance or support?

If you encounter any issues with a laundry device, please report the issue directly via the CSC Go mobile app or call (800) 762-3452 (with the machine ID readily available).

Your continued patience is appreciated as we implement this long-term solution to the issues experienced by many residents earlier this year. If you have any immediate questions, please connect with your House Operations Manager<http://studentlife.mit.edu/housemanagers>.

Sincerely,

Housing & Residential Services
