Hello,

Inspections completed.
I am pleased to report, only a few minor issues have been spotted and addressed.
I would like to remind you that it will be up to you and your roommates to keep the kitchens, bathrooms and common areas clean.
Do not be leaving trash, garbage, or unopened food in your kitchen.
Do not cover the smoke alarm and keep papers off the heating line under the widows.

All locks have been changed. To enter the 24th floor lounge and the gym located in the subbasement, please use your CQC key that was left in your room.
Return all ELA keys or any other key that you may have that begins with the letter E or F and slide it under my office door.

Thank you for your cooperation and please remember if you have any maintenance issues to open a work order from the link provided.

Importance: High

Hello Tang Hall Residents:

October is Fire Safety month so it's time to begin Fire Safety Room Inspections of all student rooms on Campus. I will begin Inspections of Tang Hall rooms on MONDAY October 18th. The House Manager will be responsible for conducting the inspections.
I will post samples of the room inspection form in the elevators prior to inspection.

Inspections will be scheduled from 11:00am-3:00pm, as listed below.

Inspections will be done as follows:
Resident/s is not required to be present during the inspection, but may be if you wish to do so.

Floors 24 through 12 MONDAY 10/18/09 between the hours of 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Floors 11 through 2 TUESDAY 10/19/09 between the hours of 10:00am to 3:00pm.

I WILL NOT BE OPENING ANY DRAWERS, CLOSETS, OR LOOKING UNDER THE BED. THIS INSPECTION IS PRIMARILY TO IDENTIFY UNSAFE ELECTRICAL AND HEATING PRACTICES ALONG WITH SAFETY CONCERNS. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE PRESENT WHEN I INSPECT. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME AT collinsm at mit.edu<mailto:collinsm at mit.edu>.

When the inspection is completed the resident/s will find a copy of the form on their desk. If violations are noted on the form the resident will have one week to make corrections.

THE ABOVE DATES AND TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE IF NEEDED.

Four of the most common violations found in past years were:

1. Over loaded outlet/power strips, to be in compliance not more than 3 devices plugged into one power strip.
2. Books and/or shelving blocking clearance of sprinkler heads, 18" of clearance must be provided for all sprinkler heads.
Nothing attached to sprinkler pipes or sprinkler heads or any other fire equipment in the room.
3. Papers and books stored on top of the heating system restricting heat.

4. Candles or incense being burned

Thank You for your anticipated cooperation
