Dear Residents,
IAP is rapidly approaching, and we wanted to remind everyone of the
policies and procedures for how to sub-license (sublet) your room or
apartment at MIT.
A Fast Summary of Sublicensing:
1. You may sublicense for part or all of the time between December 18,
2004 and January 31st, 2005.
2. You may only sublicense to direct affiliates of MIT (students,
post-docs, visiting professors, etc)
3. You and the sub-licensee must both register with the Office by using
the on-line form.
4. You may ONLY charge the Housing Office's rate for your room.
Overcharging will be pursued until you refund the overcharged amount.
5. Get everything in writing - how much is owed, how it will be paid,
the exact dates they will live there. This reduces misunderstanding and
makes the process smoother for everyone.
To advertise a sublet, or to register one, please go to
http://web.mit.edu/housing/grad/sublet/index.html
For a fuller account of the policy, go to
http://web.mit.edu/housing/grad/ghg/beingthere.html#sublicense
Please contact the Office if you have any questions,
Hilary
