Greetings!
With the Sugarloaf trip passed, its time to look forward to the next bus
trip: Stratton Mountain.
Glade lovers, rejoice! Stratton is draws large crowds from throughout
New England because of its well-groomed, well-covered and long trails as
well as its famous glades. Add to that friendly staff, a renowned
village and the good company of your fellow Snowriders and good times
will be inevitable!
As far as mountain stats, Stratton furnishes 86 open trails that are
currently served by 10 open lifts. At the moment, there is a 25-50" base
depth and a total of 468 acres of trails. Stratton offers a wide variety
of terrain--the usual mix of greens, blues and blacks. However, the
Snowriders Officers would like to highlight the extensive array of black
and double black diamond runs. For the adrenaline junkies among us, we
recommend sampling the double blacks found on Sun Bowl as well as the
black diamond glades, such as Upper Slalom Glade.
Conditions-wise, Stratton has been receiving regular natural snow in
addition to blowing their own. For those who recall the trip to Mount
Snow, similar snow conditions should be expected as these mountains are
nearby each other (for those who were not at Mount Snow, the snow was
nice). Just yesterday, they received a fresh 5" of powder and the
extended forecast predicts more snow around Feb 4-6th. Of course, beware
of the cold--daytime temperatures may plummet below 10 deg F!
Please note this is a Sunday trip, and we expect the slopes to be quite
empty. This will be a great time to enjoy this incredibly popular
mountain, without all the competition at the lift lines.
As usual, tickets are on sale now, and sales will close Wednesday at 12pm.
And, prices:
Bus: $26
Bus+Lift: $81
Bus+Lift+Rental: $146
