[Sci-tech-public] Telling the Stories of Science: A Celebration of 10 Years of Science Writing at MIT

I'd like to extend an invitation to the Graduate Program in Science Writing's 10th anniversary celebration.  It will take place on March 24, 2012 with two panels and culminate in a most excellent dinner at the MIT Museum.

Free and open to the public, the panels will focus on things that science writers like to write about.

Alan Lightman will host the first, at 2:00 pm in 32-141 on the brain and memory, featuring Robert Desimone, Professor of Brain and Cognitive Science at MIT, director of the McGovern Institute of Brain Science at MIT, Suzanne Corkin, Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at MIT and Florian Engert, Assistant Professor of Cellular Biology at Harvard University.

At 4:00, Marcia Bartusiak will host a panel on what we expect science to be doing in 50 years, with Angela Belcher, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, Seth Lloyd, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, and Phillip Sharp, Institute Professor, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT.

At 7:00 the MIT Museum will play host not only to a festive dinner, but a conversation with Seth Mnookin, Amy Harmon (NY Times), and Kurt Andersen (Studio 360).  Tickets are available at http://sciwrite.mit.edu/anniversary.
