[Sci-tech-public] Carl Kaysen's passing

Hello,

 

I am sad to report the passing of our colleague and friend Carl Kaysen. The
Boston globe has a wonderful obituary about his many contributions to the
world in international relations and arms control, whose fruits we all enjoy
today. Closer to home, Carl was a leader of STS, as well as a mentor and
friend to me and many others.  I had the good fortune to know him for nearly
twenty years, and as recently as last fall he was a reviewer on a paper I
published, generously offering his time and insights to improve our work. It
was a privilege to know and work with him. We will miss his warm presence on
campus.

 

We will be organizing a memorial service sometime this spring and will let
you know when we have a date.
