The Life Sciences/Environmental Sciences Working Group is pleased to 
invite you to our meeting on *Friday, April 20, from 12-1:45 pm* (note 
special end time), in Science Center 252, at which *Alex Wellerstein, 
History of Science, Harvard* will present his work-in-progress entitled:

"Discretion, authority, and the knife: Towards a practice-based account 
of eugenics and sterilization in California."


As usual, a light lunch will be served.  If you plan to attend, please

And mark your calendars for our final presentation this spring, on 
*Friday, May 4th*, when historian of the human sciences, Nadine Weidman, 
will present on "Popularizing the Ancestry of Man:  Ardrey, Dart, and
