Hello WF'ers

Maintenance of the workflow solutions I worked on 15 years ago are now
handled by others.

I have primarily worked on other types of solutions (OData services and
a web service based integration) since 2015, but there is little new WF
development as far as I know.

However, once a workflow developer ... So when the project where the
main delivery was an OData service we also had an ABAP WebDynpro
application where a solution to send selected records to specific users
for approval or handling was needed. Sounds like a work flow to me...

So, enter SAP Business Workflow :-)
That's the last time I created a new 'traditional workflow' and was
around 4 years ago I believe.

However, the workflow runtime engine is also useful for things that
don't include any standard tasks or workflow templates. In the latest
project which was integration using web services the workflow event
queue provided an easy way to delay the start of the export until all
data have been committed and of course also to trigger the interface
both after events we created ourselves and SAP standard events.

In my next project, in which I start working now, I will be looking at
what we will do with the 15 to 20 thousand 'pieces' of customer code
when the ECC system is upgraded to S/4. I imagine there will also be
some workflows there, for instance invoice processing solution(s).

So who knows, perhaps I will acquire some up-to-date skills. After all,
I created my first ABAP WebDynpro around 4 years ago (the project
mentioned above), so perhaps this time I should try to learn something
that others don't declare obsolete when I say I am learning it :-)

Give up on SAP Business Workflow? Never! :-D
