UWL in portal with a sub-views

Hi Margaret,
UWL entries are always updated in two hits when you open your inbox.
The first round brings in the basic details like subject, sent date, priority, etc.
The second round brings in additional details including your attributes.
So usually it's just a case of waiting a little while for the refresh to occur.

It can be impacted by clicking on each row - because that will go and get all the details for that work item.
Come to think of it... doing that might actually be slowing things down in some ways because it's interfering with the normal refresh process.

You also need to consider the volume of data in your UWL inbox, your UWL cache and portal cache ... i.e. it could be general system performance issues that are slowing things down.
Obviously if you have fewer work items in your inbox it's less effort for the system to retrieve all the details.

Instead of clicking on each row, try using the Refresh link or context menu item in the top right hand corner of the UWL just above the worklist itself.
If that sorts it it's just normal behaviour and you should maybe ask your basis guys how well the system is performing at the time.

The only other thing you can do is to look at the Personalization options for the iview - in the same context menu as the Refresh - to adjust the refresh rate.
There's also a new forceRefresh option for the UWL in the latest releases of the Portal if you have it.

Good luck,
Jocelyn

Subject: UWL in portal with a sub-views

Hi,

Can anyone send me in the direction of some documentation that will enable me to update my xml for a sub-view.

The sub-view is working well and all the columns are in place and "show up/display". However, when there are many items the columns on the first row are all populated but on the subsequent rows only the subject column is populated. Clicking on any of the rows updates the columns but this has to be done one by one. Is there any way to get the full screen of UWL entries updated with the container entries immediately on display without having to click on each entry.

Margaret Jaco.
