insert the work item description to the body of the message sent

Hi Elihayou and Margaret,
For your consideration ...

The granularity N = “One message contains multiple notifications” will also do this... but with the advantage of sending a collective mail.
This is a best of both worlds approach – you get all the details but you avoid a spam like effect.

That is, “One message per work item” sends an email for each and every work item with full details. So if you have 40 work items you get 40 emails.
Whereas “One message contains multiple notifications” sends ONE email to each user with full details of all of their work items that have been added to their inbox since the last job run.
So if you have 40 work items you get 1 long email containing the details of all 40 work items – it includes a summary of all the subject texts at the top, and in the HTML version includes bookmarks between the subject texts summary and the details of each work item.

At most sites I have found granularity N = “One message contains multiple notifications” is more acceptable to the customer.
Personally I would usually only recommend “One message per work item” for critical/urgent tasks that need to be sent more frequently, using task filters to identify critical from non-critical tasks.

Just to make sure that you are aware of the different options as you decide on your approach to notifications.

Regards,
Jocelyn

Elihayou,

You should have the work item description in the email if you use extended notifications with message granularity set to ‘One message per work item’. You can set this in swnadmin under Subscription->Message. Any information you want in the body of the message, you need to put that in the task description, and pass any data values through the binding to the task.

Hope that helps!

Margaret
