Changing contents of run time work item element

Hi Workflow'ers,
 
I want to change the value in the standard SBWP field 'Forwarder'.
This is in the work item container _workitem.
I was wondering if it's possible to change this and if so I'd appreciate some tips on the
best way to do this.
