Workflows hung in background task

Hi Sue et al

I have a question relating to this thread & topic:

I too am seeing background work items going into error, and can see the
tRFC message that explains that side of the problem. In a sense, that is
all well-and-good.

However, even though SWWERRE is running, I am not seeing either:

a) The workflow being put into a status of error after a suitable number
of passes of this job.
b) An email being sent to the WF Admin stating that the work item is
stuck in a status of 'Started'.
c) Any hint on the workflow logs of the usual FMs that attempt to
accomplish these responses.

This is my first foray into detailed WF Admin on an ECC6 system, so I
just want to ensure that my expectations are still sound. Should I be
seeing the system react in the manner I described above?

Thanks
Andy

Subject: Workflows hung in background task

We are on ECC 6.0

In one of our workflows, a background task was started and just got hung
up....it never finished. In the log it has that the Background
processing started with Object type 1 = tRFC Entries. I had to go into
the step and complete it manually for the workflow to move on.

It has happened a couple of times in the last few days (that I know
of)....on different background tasks. It is happening in workflows that
have had no changes to them.

I've gone to Basis to see if there were any issues with the RFCs at the
time that the tasks got hung up and nothing is showing up there. They
have looked at the system logs and see nothing. When this has happened
before, it has been something that has happened with the RFCs or the
gateway has backed up or the system has gone down.

What can I look at to see what might be happening to the system that is
making these background tasks hang up? Also, is there a way that I can
find all workflows that might be in the same state as the two that I
have found?

Any help would be appreciated.

Subject: Workflow template saved as 'Local' Change request cant' change
please help

Hi

I noticed in SE10 that the workflow template that I changed is
automatically saved as a 'Local Change Request' in the workbench (and
the task is labelled repair_. I was able to release it though, so I'm a
little confused. Will this be able to be transported then?

I then went to the workflow builder to see if I made another change if
it would be possible to save it as transportable workbench request; so I
made a small change. When I click on save it says transports of this
type, local can only be used for this type.
Please clarify.

Kindest Regards
Sunni
