Standard process for the attachments in Workitems

Hi Srini,
Standard way in the old SAPGUI inbox - "Create Attachment" option in the menu.
Standard way in the UWL - "Manage Attachments" hyperlink in the You Can Also Do section of the Preview.

Whether from the old SAPGUI inbox or the UWL, the attachment browser looks at your local network for the attachments.
So as long as the person attaching the document  can reach and has access to the document across the network it shouldn't matter whose desktop they are on.
But that would depend on your network settings.
Once the document is uploaded of course any subsequent agent in your workflow can view it of course.
