Just checking: method parameters: variable structure must exist as a part of a DB table?

it depends on the R/3 release. For sure until 4.5B you had to use a dictionary table reference, with ECC 5.00 you can use a structure as well, and with SAP Enterprise 4.70 I'm not a 100% sure, but the editor would tell you that :-)
