sending notification to outlook

Hi experts,

I want notifications to be sent to outlook ( we are using ECC version
6.0 and I have swnconfig set ). I have created a task with SELFITEM and
SENDTASKDESCRIPTION. I want to use this task as a background task. The
notifications get sent to the inbox only when the task is not set as
background. When I do have it set as a background task the notifications
are not sent to outlook. 

I did look in the archive links but could not get a good understanding
of how to resolve this issue. Can someone please help me sort this out?
