Deadline monitoring and Escalation in Shopping cart workflow

Hi All,
I am facing problem with the deadline monitoring in Shopping Cart
approval workflow.
After 5 days the Shopping cart should go to Approver's Manager,I am
able to do that, however this also needs status to be updated to
0005(to be approved) for manager.Any idea how can this be done?
Has anyone maintained the escalation thing in Shopping Cart
workflow,kindly let me know..
