Fellow Wuggers,

I was recently told by a BASIS person that the logical destination for workflow (the one generated in SWU3) is not actually required. After I picked myself up off the floor I explained that it was my understanding that it was quite necessary. To add to my confusion, I did see workflows triggering and running the system. My understanding was that the logical destination was used to enable the tRFC functionality which ensured that the Workflow did execute even if not enough system resources were available. Mark Pyc (thanks Mark) also shared his understanding which was that the logical destination is used to make sure that the Workflow code executes in its own logical unit work. I am not sure if anything I have written is right so I would appreciate it if people could share their understanding.

Is the logical destination required?
What precisely is its its role?
