Portal Integration with WF

Sorry Lalitha - But WHY are you reinventing the wheel here?

If it's a question of separating out a particular group of requests you
can do that with the UWL configuration - e.g. have a "request type A"
UWL page and put that wherever you want in the portal.

If it's a question of showing sufficient information you can use the UWL
configuration to tailor the columns you want to show.

If it's a question of mass approval - you can use the UWL configuration
to do that as well.

Even if it's a question of hiding unwanted tabs / buttons you can do
that with the config also.

If there's some other issue they have raised let us know and we'll let
you know if there's a way around it.

Based on your description you are literally reinventing the UWL here -
you might want to seriously consider talking your customer out of this.
One of the most important responsiblities of any consultant is to
provide good guidance to their customers - which includes talking them
out of dumb ideas.

You could spend weeks developing this, instead of a day's worth of UWL
config - what a tragic, tragic waste! And that's before we even start
on Total Cost of Ownership issues.

Please, please, reconsider.

Subject: Portal Integration with WF

Hi All,

We are trying to develop a custom tool for portal,
and are planning to use WF for the Approval process,

They want the ability for the Approver to approve the Request without
going into
the UWL .
The approver screen basically contains a list of all the pending
requests, by clicking on which
he will see more details of the individual request, which he can then
decide to approve or reject.

So now when he clicks on Approve button(custom screen) , am not sure how
to link it to the Workitem or
WF .So how would he be able to execute the WI ?

Is there a way to execute a WI from the portal.
will it need any config ?

Appreciate any input, am not a portal person, so any input to understand
the process is appreciated.

Thank you
Lalitha
