There is also the option of entering the recipient's outlook email
address directly in the workflow email step, rather than using the
automatic forwarding.

SENDTASKDESCRIPTION sends an SAP inbox message and not a work item. To
forward this to outlook, the user would have to setup automatic
forwarding email address in the SAP inbox Automatic forwarding settings.
You can do it for the user by using transaction SO36. 
Remember you also need to have SAPConnect Job scheduled to push the
messages to Outlook .

Hi,
I need to send notifications to outlook.I have used the BO -  SELFITEM
Method - SENDTASKDESCRIPTION.
I need to send this message to outlook also.I have executed the report
RSWUWFML2 .
 
I have specified this task but no message is sent to outlook.Whereas i
have other Foreground tasks where it sends a mail and user 
is able to execute the Workitem.Is there any restriction if the task is
a Background Task.
If so is there any other way to do it except using the FM (to send
mails)
