Parked events

Hi everybody,
I've found a SAP ppt that mentions parked events. This feature is available from 6.40. This ppt explains that a WF can send an event to a "wait for event step" that is not instantiated yet, when the wait step is instantiated it will receive the event asynchronously. 
I cannot found any technical documentation about that and I cannot figure out how they work. 
Anybody of you know how parked events work?
