Retreive previous workitem

Problem is that this is an existing workflow where we have to create a
report for, so no adjustments to the workflow...

Depending upon the information required.. Would it be possible to simply
bind the information out to an element in the workflow container which
can then be bound into the following step as an import parameter to the
report?  Or is this too simplistic for your needs?

Does anyone know how to retreive the information from the previous
workitem for report purposes?
Is this stored in a table or is there a functionmodule that can be used?
