Generating email from activity in e-recruiting

Hi Margret,

If you look at the work item generated you should see an exception
message
which explains the reason for failure (assuming that the exception is
trapped). This is a blue "i" button on the technical work item display.

One cause of failure might be that the data that is passed to the task
is
not being passed to the method (e.g. the sendto address). Normally the
task
container is simply copied but if someone has created a binding between
the
task and the method this may be incorrect (technical trace helps locate
this
if an inspection of the binding is not sufficient).

If the task is delivered by SAP then searching SAP Notes for this task
ID
would be the best approach.

Sorry I can't help more (but I'm curious about the outcome).

Best regards,
Alan

Dave & Alan,

Thanks for the suggestions.

WF-Batch does have an email address - in both SU01 and e-recruiting.

As far as I can tell, "all the (other) users involved" have email
addresses
- in the e-recruiting application. In this case it is an external
candidate
registering in the web app. The e-recruiting application requires them
to
enter an email address. That email address does NOT show up in SU01.

But - When I test the method from SWO1, using the activity that was
generated by the workflow instance, an email is generated and sent to
the
correct address (the external candidate's address, which is in
e-recruiting
but not in SU01).

The question is, why does the method work in SWO1, but not when the
workflow
runs?

Added info: it occurred to me to test the task in SWUS. I used the same
activity GUID that I did in SWO1; the test failed. (email was not
generated).

So it appears there is a problem with the task. But I have no idea what
that
could be.

Any other ideas? I am really stuck on this.

Margaret

You might have already checked this but do all the users involved have
e-mail addresses in SU01 ?

Subject: Generating email from activity in e-recruiting

Hello WUGers,

I have run into a problem in e-recruiting that I hope someone can set me
straight on.

I have found this same problem in several standard workflows that create
an activity and then use a task based on object ERC_ACTIV and method
ProcessDocument.

I find that when I trigger the workflow from the e-recruiting jukebox
(web app), the workflow processes to completion without generating any
error messages in the workflow log - but it also doesn't send the
expected email. When I check SOST (the SAP Connect queue), I find that
an email was not even generated.

However, if I test that method (ERC_ACTIV.ProcessDocument) in SWO1,
using the activity GUID from the workflow that just ran, the email
message is created and sent just as expected.

I suspect there is something wrong with my webservices configuration but
I haven't been able to figure it out. Can anyone suggest what I might be
missing?

Thanks for any help you can give,

Margaret Hilsbos
