Business Process Management

Hi Werner,

BPM is a blanket term for SAP Business Workflow, ccBPM, Guided Procedures and other related features.
It's not a solution in itself.

Also WebDynpro is one of many development techniques for web applications. The Enterprise Portal is a
portal that can run many different web applications - and is certainly not limited to WebDynpro.

Sounds like you need some consulting guidance to clarify the termninology and work out what is suitable for different scenarios.

For the moment think:
Workflow - processes within one application (e.g. within one ECC system)
Guided Procedures - processes acrosses applications (e.g. using an ECC and an SRM system)
ccBPM - processes that choreograph message send/receive for multiple systems in XI

Subject: Business Process Management

Hi workflow-colleagues,

We are upgrading from R/3 4.6C to ERP 2005 (NW2004s) right now.
Up to now we are only using SAP Business Workflow.

What is the new workflow generation (BPM) like in ERP2005?
I know that i can further use Business Workflow in ECC6.0 with a few more
functions than in 4.6C!?
I can use Enterprise Portal (WebDynpro) to build user interfaces and link
them with the Business Workflow!?
And i can use XI resp. ccBPM when i need processes that cover more than only
the ECC-system!?

What is your opinion about business process management?

Regards,
Werner.
