Can Workflow Create a note in Services for Objects

User wants the Service for Objects attachment list to be a way of looking
for a current status of workflow approvals.

They want each time the workflow goes through an approval process, to have
the
workflow update service for objects with a note containing approval info .

I have not worked a whole lot with attachments, notes, etc. going to and
coming from
the workflow.   I have read some about the _attachment and_adhoc
containers, but have not
used them in anything to date.

If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated.  Also, is there a
function module or
class method that can retrieve note attachments ?

I assume services for objects works the same regardless of the business
object and workflow
definition that is used.
