Mail notification background job for leave workflow

Greetings to all.

I have a query with respect to leave workflow. My
requirement is to send an email notification to the
approver (reporting superior) once the leave request
workitem is pending for approval in his inbox.

The email is to to be sent to user's internet address
maintained in Infotype 105. Is there any background
job for the same? If not then what are the ways to
achieve the same.

Any help will be appreciated.
