Use the WAPIs e.g. SAP_WAPI_WORKITEMS_BY_DEADLINE,
SAP_WAPI_GET_DEADLINES

And by all means dob in SWI2_DEAD to OSS.

Subject: problems with SWI2_DEAD

Hi,

We're in 4.7 (Basis 6.20).

I've been asked to investigate standard SAP reports for monitoring
deadlines in workflow.
I've just been testing SWI2_DEAD, but it doesn't seem to work properly.
I
can't believe I'm
the first to discover these problems! Can somebody please give advice?

Problem 1.
I set up a simple (notification) deadline for 'Latest Start' and
'Requested
End'.
In both cases, a notification is sent to the WF Initiator when the
deadline is passed.
This all works fine, and the items appear in SWI2_DEAD. However,
SWI2_DEAD
reports
that the deadlines 'Requested End' and *Latest End* have been reached
(these are the names of the two folders that appear in the ALV
screen). It's obviously confused, because in the columns of the
report it does correctly give the dates when 'Latest Start'
and 'Requested End' were reached.

Perhaps this is a translation error? Or perhaps not.. I logged
in in German and it was making the same mistake ('Frist' instead
of 'Gewuenscht')

Problem 2.
The 'Book' says (p. 137) that SWI2_DEAD can be used to view
all deadline items: "as all missed deadlines are shown,
whether or not the work item has now been completed".
However, when I complete a work item that appeared in
SWI2_DIAG, it immediately disappears from the report.

Perhaps this is just a problem in 4.7... but I have found
nothing in OSS.

Perhaps someone can recommend a better deadline report?
Or does everyone just end up writing their own...

thanks for your advice,
Paul Bakker
