Hyperlink to a file in workitem description

Hi,

i wanted to add a hyperlink to file in a workitem description.
It doesn't work and i don't know why!
First i added a hyperlink to an URL with:
/*   <a href="http://www.sap.com">SAP-Page</a>
That works fine!
Then i tried numerous possibilities to call a file on my computer but it
doesn't work.
/*   <a href="file://c:\">Local File</a>, <a
href="file://c:\test.doc">Document</a>, ...

Does anybody have an idea?
