How to find the HR unit of an user

Folks,
There's a particularly beautiful BAPI function module,
BAPI_EMPLOYEE_GETDATA, which lets you get the
personnel data, organisation data, etc. based on a personnel number, or
userid, or even just first name/last name. Very useful for those using
HR and
wanting to do something like Pat's request.
