moving running workitems from one production system to another

Haven't tried, but just to make sure: is the new system a replacement (new
hardware so to speak) with the same system ID and client number as the old
one?

If it is, then that sounds quite like taking a system copy from production
to QA and that seems to go quite well.
If it isn't, best of luck :->

When we upgraded our systems to 4.6C they shut down certain transactions
some days before the system shutdown and upgrade weekend. Anything that can
wait and will reduce the amount problems should be shut down e.g. a week
before the cut-over. Shutting down some transactions earlier (or reducing
the availability of them to just a few experienced users) allows you to
start preparing for the cut-over a little earlier.

Hi Everyone,

Here's an interesting question I got today that I could use some input
on...we
are currently on SAP 4.5B and are planning a large cutover of one of our
SAP
systems. And when I say cutover, I mean moving financial activity from one
production system (SAP 4.5B) to another production system (SAP 4.5B). The
kicker is we will have thousands of running work items in various workflow
applications that would need to be 'moved'.

A few questions:
The first stage of the cutover would be to rename one of the SAP systems to
something new (what this means from a basis standpoint I'm not sure). What
should I watch out for in terms of running work items on the system that
will be
renamed?

The second stage is actually moving the activity from one system to another
with
a proposed 'hard' cutover. Is it possible to 'lift' the in-process
workitems
from one box and put them in another box so they show up in the new box at
the
exact same point in the workflow?

Has anyone tried anything like this before or have any
ideas/thoughts/concerns?

Thanks,
Sheldon Skidmore
