Workflow doesn't continue

Hi experts,
 
we made a little mistake in one workflow.
We added a parallel step with two branches (two necessary branches).
And in one step of a branch, we added a deadline termination.
So if the deadline is reached the workitem will be cancelled.
When the workitem is cancelled, the workflow waits untill the end of =
branch two, but there is no end because the workitem is cancelled.
I need to create an obsolet step. But what to do with the running =
workflows that already stopped???
