popup messages in Portal?

Hi all

A workflow-for-portal question:

We are using SAP 4.6 and version 5 of the Portal (I'm hazy on that but am
trying to confirm). I need to get the workflow to bring up a popup box
message in front of the user - similar to the many popup function modules
in SAP. The user will not be anywhere near a UWL, Integrated Inbox or SBWP.

Is there a standard, existing piece of functionality to accomplish this?
