Work Item Attachments

Could they not just use the Display/Change toggle button to move from one to the other?

Dear All,
 
A question regarding the Object attachment in a Workitem.
Is it possible to change the Default Method from Display to Change, so that when the user clicks on the Object link in a workitem, the Object opens in Change mode.
If this is not possible, is it at all possible to remove this link entirely from the workitem?
