How to restrict workflow launches ?

Gilles,
 
In releases from 4.6C you can use start conditions. There you can put which
document types are workflow related.
 
If you are on an earlier release, you have to use Check Function Modules.
These functions modules are called before the work item creation and, if the
document do not have the type you want, you can raise an exception and no
workflow will be generated.
