Can i change the agent ?

Hi all
 
 
We are managing the following scenario:  by a custom role, a field in
Vendors Master Data leads to Organizational Structure and every workitem is
well addressed.
But it can happen that the field in Vendors Master Data is modified.
No problem for the new workitems, these workitems will be correctly
addressed by the role.
For the old workitems - workitems started before the change - i would
replace the new Position in  Organizational Structure.
Can i change the agent  in a started workitem using a background job?
