Container not in WF Definition

I have a Wf that started.
It was missing a container element when it started.
I inspected the WF def in PFTC_CHG / regenerated and
did a resync of buffers with SWU_OBUF. After this, the containers
showed up correctly!

What I need to know is, is it possible to restart that WF after error
and some how create
and populate the missing container? I have not run into this before. It
looks to me that I
am hosed! The container did not even exist when the WF kicked off and I
don't know how
to restart the WF and add the container?

Stumped on this one...
Thanks!
