SAP MAPI provider and performance in SAP R/3

Folks,
 
We are considering several options to make workflow items available to
our users community via MS Outlook. One of the options that I am looking
at is the SAP MAPI provider that comes with the GUI. Is anyone using the
SAP MAPI provider? If so how many users are you supporting, and do you
see any degradation of performance in your R/3 environment?
