Hello all,

As you may know, the ASUG Fall Forum will be held October 26 - 29 in=20
Dallas TX. The Workflow interest group of ASUG has compiled a list of=20
what we think will be exciting and informative topics for the Fall=20
Forum. The only problem is, we need people who are willing to speak!=20
That's where you come in. Speaking at an ASUG conference (or Forum) can=20
be a very rewarding experience, from deepening your own technical=20
knowledge as you prepare for the presentation, to the challenge of=20
public speaking, to the rewards of peer recognition. Please take a few=20
minutes to read the list of proposed topics below, and consider whether=20
you would like to present.

If so, please go to the URL=20
http://ew.sba.com/ew/asug/callpapers/callpapers.cfm?conference_id=3D54 to=
=20
sign up, or send email to DKDAVIS at US.IBM.COM, or to me (skeohan at mit.edu).

Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sue

Workflow /Webflow Fall Conference HOT Topics
1. Event Creation =13 This session will outline the commonly accepted bes=
t=20
practices for creating events, which can be used to start and control=20
workflows. Topics will include Change Documents, Status Management, and=20
Output Determination.

2. Best Practices for Workflow Error Handling =13 You know your workflow=20
needs to be error-tolerant. But what are some of the best ways to handle=20
these errors? Background tasks that are unable to complete, dialog tasks=20
that are unable to be resolved to an actual agent? How can you prevent=20
these from occurring, and how can you do post-error processing?

3. Workflow with Forms =13 What are some of ways in which you can=20
implement the power of user-oriented forms with Webflow? What=20
development techniques are required? What are the benefits and drawbacks=20
of such an implementation?

4. Workflow with or without HR =13 Webflow can be implemented with or=20
without an HR implementation. In this session, ideally, we would have 2=20
customers, one that implemented workflow without HR, and one that=20
implemented it with HR. Each customer will share the challenges and=20
methodologies of their workflow implementation.

5. CRM- World=19s Biggest Workflow =13 It may not be the world=19s bigges=
t=20
workflow, but some people whom have implemented workflow in CRM=20
certainly think so.

6. Workflow Creation =13 Show what happens behind the scenes =13 You know=
=20
that when you start a workflow, certain steps occur, as you have defined=20
them in your workflow template. But what is really going on behind the=20
scenes?

7. Workflow Optimization =13 What techniques can be used to ensure that=20
your workflows are robust and efficient?

8. Getting a workflow project started
=A8 Case Study of a simple workflow project

9. Quick Hits overview of existing Workflow templates and their=20
application? =13 We are looking for customers who have implemented=20
SAP-delivered standard templates.

10. Case Study: Exploiting Workflow functionality beyond notifications=20
(ROI) =13 We need case studies of customer implementations of workflow=20
that can show the return on investment. These types of case studies can=20
help you (the attendee) make the case for future workflow projects by=20
learning how to calculate the ROI.

11. Workflow Capabilities Overview =13 Terminology, Features, and Functio=
n=20
=13 This would be an =18Introduction to Workflow=19 with common terminolo=
gy,=20
features, and functions of workflow identified at the start. Once the=20
building blocks of shared terminology were complete, the presentation=20
would continue with a case study of workflow, which would help give real=20
examples of terminology, etc.

12. Best Practice Guide on minimum requirements needed for a workflow=20
project =13What is the right amount of information needed to begin (and=20
successfully complete!) a workflow project? Is the Visio document of the=20
=18to-be=19 state from the functional or business team enough to get you=20
started?

13. Workflow Information System (WIS) and Reporting =13 The Workflow=20
Information System is an under-utilized tool which can provide many=20
types of reporting capabilities. We would like to hear from a customer=20
who has implemented WIS, as well as a customer who has developed=20
=18home-grown=19 reports.
=A8 Case Studies (2 presentations on WIS and custom reports)

14. Criteria for determining when workflow is necessary and when it is=20
not (with examples) - How can you determine which business processes are=20
best suited for a workflow project? Should you go with a large,=20
high-visibility project? What types of processes should be looked at as=20
the most-likely candidates for workflow?

15. Business Process Management (BPM) in the Exchange Infrastructure (XI)
SAP Exchange Infrastructure provides open integration technologies that=20
support process-centric collaboration among SAP and non-SAP components=20
both within and beyond enterprise boundaries. With business process=20
management, you can model and drive processes in a dynamic IT=20
environment. It allows you to combine underlying applications into=20
adaptive, end-to-end processes spanning the entire value chain using SAP=20
XI.

16. Workitem delivery strategy =13 Workitems can be delivered to the=20
end-user a number of ways; in their SAPGUI inbox, the WebGui inbox, in=20
their Outlook inbox, to name a few. What methods of workitem delivery=20
have you implemented, and what were the reasons for choosing one over=20
the other?

17. Global Workflow Consolidation Project: Merging Workflows from=20
different SAP production instances onto one central instance -
A global corporation works with SAP to merge over 30 mission critical=20
ISC workflows running in separate production systems across the US and=20
Asia onto a single production workflow instance without data migration=20
or transports. Learn how they handled archiving issues, assured number=20
range integrity, how they handled SAP office and org structure=20
challenges to ensure seamless integration of these common workflows.
