pass object reference

Hello Fellow WF'ers,
 
Hopefully this will be an easy one, but it's Monday and it is escaping me...I'm
working on a sub-workflow (4.5b) and trying to pass an object reference of the
main workflow to the sub-workflow without too much success.  I have re-checked
my bindings, buffers, and all that.  Am I able to pass the whole business object
to the sub-workflow, or must I just pass the key and re-create an instance of
the object in the sub-workflow?
