Expert Help reqd Urgently- wf with external system

Hi all
 
I have a requirement to write an ABAP program in R/3, which reads an
external system (Windows system ... dll files) the data is checked in the
external system and a yes/no result is returned back to R/3.  If its a yes
than the program kicks off a workflow.
 
Now, kicking off the workflow is easy, but I dont know how ABAP reads a DLL
file (windows com component) in an external system , passes information to
it and gets a result passed back to it (must be real -time); any information
on how to do this in a simple way as possible will be much appreciated.
