Hi,

I'll like to add a remark for the original question no. 3. There is a SAP
note (no. 307663)
that explains how to write a function for triggering an event, as you like
to do.

Hiya,

1. As the ESS leave and training overview screens contain functionality to
retrieve the status of the requests out of the workflow logs by task
number; when you copy the standard templates to your own and modify them
the overview screens are not able to retrieve the correct information (eg
approver) for requests in process anymore as the task number has changed.
If you not copy the standard templates but make changes to them you have
the risk that an LCP will overwrite your changes. Apparently, SAP is
working on a correction to this so we should be able to customise the task
number being used.

2. You are correct, as long as there is no booking record there is nothing
to delete. Make sure you use wf archiving to maintain performance of the
ESS overviews if you have large volumes.

TEM is indeed quite fun to implement. Can be a bit boring at times as
everything is quite nicely developed as compared to some other HR modules.

Best regards,

Jeroen

Jeroen,

not stucked (yet), but what did you mean when you said "- Do not copy and
rename the standard functionality, as this will result
in the ISS screen not being able to retrieve all relevant information on
requested courses."?

On question number 2, was related to what to do if the request is not
approved? How do I 'delete' the request if it has not been recorded
anywhere yet? I mean, how do I make it disappear from the ESS My Bookings?
I noticed that the delivered SAP workflow for approving employee's
attendance booking (WS01200151) does 'delete' the entry but I couldn't
understand how it is done? Does it disappear because it is in the workflow
log?And then upon rejecting , because no relationship was created, the
workflow is terminated and the log is 'cleaned up'???

Much thanks, I can see myself having lots of fun using workflows and ESS
and PD!!

Cristiana,

1. Basically, the training request is 'stored' in the workflow logs until
the booking relationship is created. This results in a couple of issues:
- Possible performance issues of the ISS training overview screen when
there are large numbers of training requests
- Do not copy and rename the standard functionality, as this will result
in the ISS screen not being able to retrieve all relevant information on
requested courses.

2. Sorry, do not understand your question here. The ISS leave scenario
does not use locked records but a similar set up as for training requests:
only create the actual absence record after the request was approved.
Works very well except for some horrible performance issues at the
beginning for which SAP fortunately created a patch.

3. You still need to provide an activity code; eg BOKF for a firm booking.
TIP: first get some insight in the different activity codes and what they
do; then create entries for the ones you want to use (in my case; pretty
much all of them as I had problems transporting records with wildcards in
their keys) and link them to your own triggering function module so you
can easily group triggerings into custom events.

Happy to provide any further information if you have any specific
questions.

Best regards,

Jeroen

Subject: Workflow and Training & Events

G'day all,

we are in 4.6c and I have a few questions on Training & Events and
Workflow:

1) When an employee applies for a training course via ESS (using
transaction code PV7I) what does happen with the request until it is
approved? Is a record created in R/3 or only after approval?

2) I don't think there is a 'Lock Indicator' field in the record, there
is? I am trying to figure out what the 'approval' will mean in that case,
for example, when dealing with Leave , approving leave means unlocking the
relevant record so it can be processing; how that works for Training and
Event records?

3) How to trigger the event in Training & Events? I tried creating an
entry in t779x and still no event raised (see below), What else I am
missing???

Any other tips for using Training & Events with Workflow are appreciated!!

Thanks and regards
