There is one other solution, but it has a certain disadvantage. Luckily =
the
SAP GUI (at least the Win32 GUI) adheres to the standard shortcut keys =
in a
lot of areas (which in turn are part of the Common User Access (?)
specification developed by Apple, IBM, Microsoft and others years ago).
Therefore, CTRL + TAB takes you through control groups in a window.

The text definition area is two groups after the subject area. You can
happily type on (and the status bar will indicate where you are), but =
you
can't see anything. If you are defining a plain text message you can =
simply
paste (SHIFT + INS which is also part of CUA along with CTRL + INS and
SHIFT + DELETE) the text in after writing it in another editor. If you =
need
to insert expressions it is of course a bit more work, but it should =
still
be doable.

The disadvantage is of course _not_ that you can't really see what you =
are
doing. It is that you can't tell your boss you need a better computer to =
do
this :-)

I would without doubt classify this as an error in SAP, but it will not
surprise me if the OSS disagrees. The SAP developer hasn't set the =
correct
minimum size of the client area. When resizing your window sufficiently =
you
should get scrollbars instead of a shrinking client area. Eventually you
do, but then it is too late (the entire message editing area has been
hidden). This is the disadvantage of the improved user interface (where =
the
client area you see expands to fill your window as opposed to having a
fixed size) - it adds another piece of responsibility to (overworked?)
developers and testers.

Hi Jose,
Unfortunately there is a minimum size requirement on your screen size =
and
resolution
to be able to see everything in the send mail step.
It sounds like your machine screen size is just too small. I have had =
this
before when working on customer sites with old machines.

You can still use send mail steps in your situation, but not to create a
mail
task from scratch.

What I suggest you do is:

1) Use transaction PFTC or PFTC_INS to create a
SELFITEM.SENDTASKDESCRIPTION
task as normal - putting in your work item and long texts and any extra
container elements you need.

2) Go back to your workflow, add the send mail step, go to the Control =
tab,
type in your task number (TS.....) and press enter. You can then sort =
out
the
binding and everything will be fine.

This definitely works as I've had to do this several on sites with old
machines.
It's still worth using the send mail step for the clarity it adds to =
your
flowchart.

Sorry, was confused with mails which were actually sent out, you are =
still
in the definition stage.

Have experienced that problem as well, the 'solution' is to maximise the
screen as SAPgui removes the display of the free text lines first when =
the
SAP screen does not fit your display settings. Just expand your screen
resolution, I tend to also set my windows icon bar to hide automatically
when
defining email texts.

Hi Jeroen

I'm in transaction PFTC_CHG, busy creating the workflow. I have a =
decision
step - followed by an email step. In 46C you don't have the email wizard
anymore, but SAP have given a new activity called "Send Mail" - this
creates an email task with two tabs "Mail" and "Control". The problem is =
on
the
"Mail" tab. On this tab you enter the recipient, the subject of the =
email,
whether it must go express and, the mail body where you can enter the
message you want to send. It is this mail body that is missing - I see a
row of icons separated by a line where the mail body should be.

Jose

Jose,

Need more information then that, but I would start with having a look at
your conversion routines (transaction S_BCE_68001286) in combination =
with
your settings for supported formats during sending (general node data ->
internet -> 'Set' button). Check if your conversion result is acceptable
for
outgoing mails.

Hope this helps,

Jeroen

Hi everyone

We're on 4.6 C patch level 35 (33 for APPL). When I create a Send Mail
step, the mail body is "missing". The subject header is fine, but the =
mail
body is just not there. The icons are there though - the top line one
cannot interact with, but the bottom two are available. Has any-one else
encountered
something similar? I did a note search and nothing like that seems to =
come
up - maybe I'm searching with the wrong keys. Any help will be =
appreciated.

Oh, I'm on SAPGUI 620 patch level 7.

Regards

Jose
