Adding Notes to image within Ixos viewer

non standard workflow and I believe was written by Ixos, this is being
phased out gradually. We have a new workflow, developed later, for the same
process using standard workflow techniques and tables.  Within the original
workflow reasons for approval or rejection were put into the notes of the
Ixos image in a background task. In foreground you can simulate this by
pressing F8 for notes when the image is displayed.
 
   In the new workflow we are putting texts into the FI document being
approved in the normal texts screen for the document, performed by a call
transaction.  I have been asked by our users to update the notes on the Ixos
viewer with the same texts as put on the FI document texts screen.
 
   I looked through the tasks and methods of the original workflow and found
a function module called J_8AS_APPEND_NOTE_WITH_OLE which I think was loaded
in by Ixos. I have tried to create a new task and method using this function
after the call transaction but no luck at moment. The image has been closed
by the step of running this function I don't know if this is relevant or
not.
 
   Does anyone know of this function module or know of a standard way to
update notes into an Ixos image so that they can be viewed when the image is
opened again in a later step?
